    M50 injectors a success!

Installed my "new to me" M50 injectors a little while ago along with all new o-rings. The car seems to run a lot smoother and pulls happily.

Now it's time to give the M30 AFM a try. When I did a test run with the M30 AFM before the injectors the car ran like shit.

I too have m50 injectors in my m20b25 and am wondering if the m30 afm made a difference?

M30 AFM actually did provide a slight boost for me on the second try. First time the car was mostly stock, second time I had a free-flow exhaust system as well M50 injectors and it gave the car a noticable low-end kick.

Well this thread is almost 6 years old.

But yes my old car ran great with M50 injectors, M30 AFM, and Turner chip.

What about a BMP chip? Think it will make a difference?

Since the M50 injectors are a higher flow rate than stock M20 'i' units, does the DME/O2 sensor just sniff out the richness and decrease the pulse width? In other words, you guys are running these injectors with no additional modifications and seeing improvement in operation?

I don't really care about more power or whatever, but if there's a smoother idle etc then I'd like to make the change.

                          old timers checking in.

                          Are m50 injectors 4 pintle?

I did a ford 19# plus the big afm on my old ix before the turbo incident and was able to get almost 30mpg on a few trips. Figured the better fuel atomization from new-er 4 pintle injectors plus the wideband o2 leaning it out perfectly was what did it. And driving downhill with the wind behind me.

I think I had a wideband on it at the time..... but I cant even remember what I had for breakfast. Either way you will adjust the afm to make the car idle, and then reset your ecu by pulling the battery cable off for 15 min so that the ecu can 'learn' the too-big injectors... ie adjust the stock opening times down a bit so the car runs the correct a/f mix.

If you just pop the big boys in you will be idling horribly and running in stinky flood rich city until the computer learns you back straight with the o2 from driving around for a hour or so.

                            Yes, M50 injectors are 4-pintle.
