btw my 283, brand new, is still for sale, and less than on the flying brick website, cause I got it in a groupbuy. also have the accompanyinf valve springs, and new rocker arms and rocker shafts. and a spare head w/~60k on it that just got milled, cleaned, new valve seals, valves reseated, etc...
he definately meant the RD M20 head when he said "FredKim has a RD twincam head on his stroker m20"

          Shrick 288 FTW , I've got one in my 2.9lt , it's pretty dead under 3400rpm.

but once over that it pulls nicely, and once u hit about 4000rpm it pulls like a freight train.

What u need to remember is the longer ur duration is, the more ur dynamic compression reduces (well, actually the longer the overlap, but generally the longer the duration, the more overlap the cam has)

The genreal thinking over here, is longer is better, but I dont agree with that as most of the guys are running fairly std heads, and u not making power that high up in the rev range.

I think u can only really take advantage of a big cam with a different plenum and or itbs'...

on the 2.5lt motors, the Alpina 276deg camshaft is very popular, with the 2.7lt iS motors 288deg 292deg, and now with the 2.9lt's and 3.0lt's they running 300deg and 302deg...

I prefer to keep some bottom end, for the circuit :)

That is pretty much a race only camshaft. You would definitely want some porting, well flowing intake and exhaust and high compression pistons. It moves your power band WAY up. You would probably also need stronger valve springs and rockers to handle the revs. Engine management is a must as well, but I am sure you know that.

Why would u need engine managment ? I dont see it as being a necessity.

Do you picture a 20 year old ecu, trying to make a car with a big cam in it idle or run correctly? :drink:
