I need to start sourcing custom pistons for my 2.7i, where do you recommend getting them from?

ColdAccord has (had) a set of Mahle with rings for some insanely cheap price, new in the MF box! PM him, otherwise, go MM.

You gonna do a full rebuild now?

Ya since the head gasket blew, and I wanted to do my stroker this summer anyway, I am considering just doing it now. i already have a nice head sourced, I just need the bottom end stuff.

Want a dead ETA? The one in my Sons car got a forklift in the oil pan, may or may not be good...but free is nice.

hmmm that is tempting, and Eugene is not far away. At least if I have a spare block I can build the engine on my own sweet time and just fix my current head gasket problem. I would still need some 'i' rods but I'm sure Joe can help with that.

If you're going to make custom pistons, check out Metric Mechanic. I've no idea what they'll charge, but they have experience making non-interference pistons for the M20. As far as I'm concerned, that's what BMW should have done in the first place.

Ya MM makes good pistons, but they are $$$$$$$$. IE has them for much less and they're good quality, and they even have enlarged valve pockets for my hotter cam :) Is there a place that sells a good rebuild kit, i.e. main bearings, gaskets, main bolts, head bolts, etc? I've got sources for all the rotating assembly parts but I need the little bits and pieces now.

I sourced out all my rebuild parts from various vendors, got mostly everything for my local supplier, Imports Parts Specialists and they pricematched everything with EAP4PARTS.com and BMA.

I didn't find any "rebuild kits" anywhere myself...so I just found what I needed and got it all. You have to make sure you get the correct rod and crank bearings...that is, if you plan on putting in new ones?
