You could jumper the fuel pump relay and see if that allows the car to start. But even if that works you need to find out why things aren't working as they should be.

Fuel pump relay WTF

terminal 86- 1 green
terminal 30a-1 red/yellow- One of these is an ignition input to the cpu
terminal 30-1 red
terminal 31-1 brown
terminal 31b-1 brown/yellow
when you open the case pay attention to terminal 30a if there is an open circuit to 30a you wont get power to your fuel pump.
lemme know how this worked out when i bought my car i had to find this one out on my own.

replaced the main and fuel pump relays and check out the over voltage protection relay. all should be well but it still wont get power to the fuel pump. I am also not getting power to the spark plug coil. Time to trace wiring for voltage."And many E30 M3s were cut up for racecars, which never really made much sense--you can race a 325i much more economically and still lose to Porches just as well."

im getting power to everything it seems but just no ground at the computer. Ive exhausted all my ideas so I guess its back to trying out another ecu.Last edited by e30 vs e30; 07-25-2007, 07:51 PM."And many E30 M3s were cut up for racecars, which never really made much sense--you can race a 325i much more economically and still lose to Porches just as well."

would it be a bad idea to jump that relay? i took the cover off of it and it looked fine. although I didnt check its continuity....ill try that tonight. Did yours look obviously damaged?"And many E30 M3s were cut up for racecars, which never really made much sense--you can race a 325i much more economically and still lose to Porches just as well."

Ok I dont know if anyone else is reading this anymore but I just tested out that voltage overload relay and its totally fine. the coil has continuity, the diode test fine, the switch is good. waiting on another ecu to see if that will help."And many E30 M3s were cut up for racecars, which never really made much sense--you can race a 325i much more economically and still lose to Porches just as well."

effin' obc black box!!
so after hours of electrical diag and some much needed help from a friend I found that power was coming out from the ignition switch but not making it to the computer and ignition coil due to my removal of the obc black box. I guess it also takes power from that same circuit and routes back to the ecu and ignition coil. Once I jumped that connector the engine fired right up. Seriously humiliatingly relieving."And many E30 M3s were cut up for racecars, which never really made much sense--you can race a 325i much more economically and still lose to Porches just as well."
