    Plan on at LEAST $4000 for a 5 speed swap and turbo setup. And that's cutting it cheap.

        does anyone know what kinda of engine i have. i mean i know its a M20 but like can i put a different head on it. or like different internals or something?

          -Don't worry too much. If you want to look around you can find a s-eta bottem end (block, crank, rods + pistons, use everything else from the 2.5) from a '88 325 or 528e. It will bump displacement to 2.7 and lower the CR to 8.5:1 (from 8.8 ). That'll work well with the turbo.

              -No, but it would be a lot easier if you did. You can leave the naked block in the car and tap new pistons in... and the crank from the bottem but you'd have to remove the subframe... I'd pull the engine.
