Can I increase compression in the i motor?

8.8:1 is pretty low and I was thinking a cheap-ish way to bump power would be to deck the head, if I can get a meaningful increase in compression without screwing up the valve clearances. Anyone have experience with this?

you can but that will change the cam timing, and yes your valve clearences will be tighter.

my suggestion don't do it. You will be risking bending valves and possibly ruining your pistons.

Best bet if you want to increase your compression buy custom pistons, and while your at build a 2.8 stroker with a eta crank and custom pistons with +1mm overbore
