    throttle body coolant lines

yes i've searched and read a few threads about this. but it's a lil different on my e21. i've posted on an e21 board but no one has responded. i figured maybe some of you m20 guys could help me out.

for some reason the coolant line that routes to the throttle body was just dumping coolant into my intake. first, can anyone tell me why it's doing this? if it's an easy fix i'll fix it. if not, i just want to bypass it. but i wasn't sure if the line that comes off the bottom of the intake manifold was the line that it goes to..... i figured i'd just join the two lines. here are some pics. any help is appreciated.

i circled the two lines i think i could connect.....

I had the same thing happen except it dumped a puddle of coolant on the garage floor. I bypassed the corroding throttle body line and connected the lines directly together.

No ill affects... it's designed to prevent icing.

The lines should not actually run in to the throttle body or intake manifold. Their intention is to warm the throttle body. I would bypass them if it were me.

If the coolant passage corroded and breached into the intake portion of the TB, cap off the inlets on the TB side also so you don't get an air leak. If that's the case, I would keep an eye open for a replacement, also.

Not sure if this is always the case , but hats off to you for shedding new light on potential vacuum leaks.
