    Cold Oil pressure

So I finally got around to getting my SW Oil pressure gauge hooked up. And although it was about 30 degrees outside it was reading some 90psi on a stone cold start is that normal? after a minute or so it was down to 75psi at idle and dropping.

I am using non synthectic BMW 15-40w oil, and I have a rather large oil cooler fitted to my m20.

Mine at cold start is around 60-70psi. When it warms up (15 min or so later), around 20psi at idle.

you oil warms up in 15 minutes? my coolant takes longer than that to warm up...

it also depends on what you're using - lighter oil will have lower pressure on cold starts than thick stuff.

Well in 15 minutes probably its about 20psi. Coolant is warmed up in 15 though :) When my oil temp is around 190deg F pressure at idle is about 20 psi.

It takes almost 20 minutes to get my oil temp up to 170 degrees on a 90 degree day, I havent seen my oil temp gauge go past 150 now that its freezing out. And when oil is 150 degrees I am getting around 50lbs of oil pressure.
