    Yet Another 2.7i Build Question...

Ok I currently in the middle of finishing up this project for now. I believe I have all of the parts. My problem is I'm having difficulty figuring out how exactly the crank sensor is mounted near the harmonic balancer. If someone has a pic they can post, that'd be awesome. Is there a specific bracket I need or is it already there on my ETA engine.

    Parts I have:
    AFM
    1.1/1.3 harness out of '88
    524 ECU
    Toothed Balancer
    Crank Sensor
    "885" head
    "I" intake w/ TB
    Various little odds & ends

    You'll need the CPS bracket.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Dont for get you need the water pump pulley and crank pulley, and you are going to want to find a #173ecu. you dont have to use the i head right away. Your stock eta has 9.0:1 Compression and if you put the i head on you will have 8.4:1 So I kept the eta head on untill I could find super eta, or custom pistons. as for the CPS it has bolt holes for it on the front passenger side of the block near the crank and yes there is a bracket that is on all i engines for it.

Am I not able to use the 524 ECU? Also, is there a specific difference between the water pump pulleys on the ETA & "I" engines?

A little late for keeping the head on seeing as it has a crack somewhere causing it to pump air into the cooling, so I thought what a better time then now to do the swap.

Yes you can use the 524ecu but it is not as updated as the 173. As for the pulleys when you put the toothed crank pulley on you will not be able to intall your eta water pump pulley or crank pulley because they are too large the i pulleys are smaller to work with the toothed pulley. And yes use the i head if your e head has to come off any ways. The only down side is it takes a couple cranks to get it started because of the compression drop and the idle is a little rough because of the piston to head differences. but other then that your going to love the i head. dont for get to buy new head bolts and torque them correctly. do you have any pics?

Ok so I will be able use the 524 ECU for now as I plan to eventuallly install a turbo & MS2. I test fit the harmonic balancer to see if it would clear and it appears to clear the water pump, but as for the others. I'm not sure because they are loose at the moment. As for new head bolts I aquired some "metric blues" off eBay. What would you like pics of?

Yes a picture of this "mystery" bracket would be great. I was looking at the realoem.com diagram, and is it #12 that I'm looking for. It would be great if they kinda showed where it mounted in relationship to everything else they show.

Edit - I just found this on PelicanParts.com, not sure if it is right one but looks close.
