To start of, I am swapping my m20b20 engine from my 1987 325i (engine was put in by PO when original died), into a new 1989 320i body I bought (because mine has a twisted chassis from me rear ending someone...)
Anyways, I have just finished stripping most stuff out of the engine bay of the 320i body, so it can be repainted in diamond black metallic (its the blue color atm). Well anyway, I have noticed a few things that I need help with.
1. My Coil sits on the left side of the engine bay (next to alternator) in the 325i, the 320i has it on the strut tower of the right side by the washer fluid thing.
Thing with this is it got me looking and I notice the wiring loom must be different, Since the wiring for the coil comes out close to where it comes from the firewall, so I don't think there will be a chance I can put it in the same place as it was in the 325i right (since the plug for the coil to the distributor is shorter)
2. This bodys exhaust had a catalytic converter thing, with an oxygen sensor, so the loom has the wiring sensor plug for it. Again, My 325i body does not have a oxygen sensor so I do not need it. So I guess this loom has sensors and stuff I do not have. I also noticed the plugs look different on the 320i wiring loom, compared to the one in my 325i.
BUT the thing is, this m20b20 engine that is in my 325i was aparently from a 1989 320i, so I thought the conversion should be fine. But what am I suposed to do? Will the wiring loom fit or am I going to have to change wiring looms?
If I have to change looms, how do I rewire everything (the loom part that connects to the fuse box is different).
