I don't think your 87 has a separate Idle Control Module. That function is in the DME on this, and later, cars.

well the wiring diagram says it has one and if not, the ecu is the one that controls the idle control valve am I right?

all 84 - 87 E's had the ICM.

Look where the ECU is (above the glovebox, behind the plastic trim), you should see a small green box with a harness to the left side of it.. that is the idle control module.

Well 87' E30s have a Cold Start Injector that Regulates the Idle Control in a way.
