    need some ideas

i built a 2.7 motor with a supereta lower end and an i upper end. stock cams and crack with new piston rings, new main and rod bearings, new seals, reinforced rocker arms, new valves, new higher tension valve springs, 19 lb injectors, stock cam, 8.5:1 comp, and fully rebuilt everything. it runs great. very strong and fast. drop the clutch throuh first and second and your doing sixty by the time your in third and it just happens so fast. very happy with it compared to the stock 2.5. I know the injectors are dumping gas but it just seems like i need to lower the fuel pressure a little. i dont want to run lean because i just dropped a ton of money into this motor. i made a custom fuel rail adjustable regulator hookup. i cut the stock regulator open and removed the guts and welded it back together and tacked the vacuum nipple shut. its solid and doesnt leak. no leaks on the motor or tranny at all. very nice looking build.

my question is this. the stock fuel pressure is 3 bar. can i lower the fuel pressure down to maybe 45 psi without leaning out? to get better gas mileage? i plan on bringing it back up eventually. there are plans in the works for a roots supercharger or some sort of supercharger running 8 to 10 psi, megasquirt, 8 lb flywheel, stage 2 clutch, and either a 3.25 or a 2.73 slip diff. its going to be great. cant wait. but any suggestions on the fuel pressure? gotta fix this problem. not cool at all. thanks guys.

19lb injectors strike me as being a wee bit large for the engine. The DME may not be able to use a short enough pulse width in the lower rev range, resulting in a rich condition. I think the best solution would be to revert to stock injectors and FPR until you add the S/C. Oh yeah, and if old or of unknown age, replace the O2 sensor.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I would try to give it more air with this AFM to MAF swap.

Then install a chip and run 93octane.

I am running 89i injectors with my 2.7i.

If he was going to waste his time and money on that, he might as well go MegaSquirt, since he wants to do that eventually anyway.
