going to do a timing belt...

what parts would i need besides the belt, tensioner and water pump? want to have everything in order before i start working. in other words, i want to do it all in 1 shot, dont want to have to stop and wait on parts that i didnt order halfway through the job...

water pump gasket, some silicone, a good set of tools, antifreeze, ziploc bags with stiky notes to label every thing so you can make sure it gets back in the right spot=P,

do you need to do a valve adjustment to? i had to when i did mine, as well as change the oil. make sure you have all the tools as well as all the parts before you start.

It's a good time to replace your accessory belts as well.

plastic timing belt cover, most easily brake when you pull them off. Is it an E or an I. Your info says M3, so i'm wondering what are you replacing? Put pretty much all the rubber/plastic parts on the way are nice to replace now, and not worry about for the nect 50-60k miles.

E30M3 motors do not have timing belts.

Timing belt jobs are overrated . Just skip it , you'll be fine .

Beer is a must. Along with tacos.

My best advice is to triple check the timing marks on the crank and the camshaft before putting the belt back in. It's very easy to get the belt off a tooth.

Oh, and get two water pump gaskets. Those things cost less than a dollar and tear ridiculously easy. A spare is always good thinking.

Other than that, it's all nuts and bolts.
