    Throttle body disassembly

Is there an easy way to do this? I'm looking to removing everything so It can be painted. I removed the two bolts (10mm/11mm) that sit on top of the springs, but after that I've been stumped.

From the looks of it the springs are loaded to give pressure. I got the larger spring to come loose; I just need to get the smaller one. Has anyone else ever done this?

After that, should the linkage just slip off, along with the springs?

Eh, It looks good enough just glass beaded.

-I wouldn't mess with it too much, they are a PITA to get back together...

A heads up to anyone else, there is a (zinc?) coating on the TB arms so if you remove it then it'll start rusting.

You can buy clear zinc in a aerosol can from Eastwood and make it look nice and new after bead blasting. If you are pulling the linkage with the arm still attached it is not very pleasant even though you pulled the nut off of it. It is an interference fit, pressed into the slot. You have to pull the "C" clip on the opposite side, where the throttle position sensor is. If you do this, it will come out as an assembly, otherwise you are going to be wiggling pulling until you get it off or something breaks.

the TB is a total PITA to take apart and reassemble. Well, getting the springs off isn't so bad - but getting both the inner and outter springs back on with the proper tension is a nightmare. I did mine because I needed to flip the shaft around for the E36 TPS, took about 4 times longer than I expected.
