Metric Mechanic is another source for "built" engines. I know of one in an E30 and a couple in 2002's that have worked out well.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Well Korman is known best for building VERY strong and reliable motors. If you want it done right, they are your best bet.

Good strong motors, but pricey . My uncle owned Weber BMW's of Fresno Calif. and he has a 1972 BMW tii with a Korman Stage 2 motor in it. He swears by their parts and I trust him in his opinions. Metric Mechanics is another good choice. There is a 2.5l head for sale on the SF Craigslist for 1500.00. Its ported and polished with an aggressive cam and will make a huge power diff in your car.

chatted briefly with ray korman at oktoberfest. definitely knows what he's talking about, esp for s14s having raced them and been an expert on them for the last 20 yrs. i'm sure he'd do a quality job on the m20 too but the question is whether it's worth it to spend upwards of 15k for a built m20 when an S5x swap is so much easier, cheaper and practical.

Unless you need to maintain the M20 for some particular racing reason, S52 FTW.

i can think of only one reason a "built" m20 would help and that's in KP. Spec e30 doesn't allow mods to the engine.

Well I am just checking to find what are my options,

a 15k M20 is not an option for me, I had no idea of the cost for a Korman engine,

                  Metric Machanic offer an M20 205hp $6995.00,

so I probably check in to an engine swap, I am new to the E30,

What engine swap would give me a little over 200hp keeping weigh distribution closed to factory and easy to do?

Thank you guys for the feedback,

200 crank or rwhp? look into M50/S50 swaps.

did he have it done or bought it w/ the Korman motor in there? Its hard to judge a motor build if you are the 2nd owner because there is a good chance that the PO changed something on it after the work was done, etc.

Korman does top notch work, you won't find any better...
Call 336-275-1494 ext 14...Ask for Allen Patterson,,,
I'm thinking in the $6k range for that but I really don't know for sure..
I know that Korman rebuilds alot of MM engines or has over the past...
The problems from early turbo motors are basically from early turbo science...
we know alot more now thanks to Corky Bell and Korman was one of the earliest to run the Cartech Turbo setups...
they did alot of Turbo IX's too...

Yup. I have heard just as much good about Korman as I have Metric Mechanic, and it sounds like the latter is significantly cheaper than the former.

As far as having work performed, my family has been quite impressed with Korman.

that's 205 crank using a stock chip. it would be quite a bit more if it were tuned. Most of the people talking about 200whp M50s are dreaming, anyway.

also MM cams are designed for daily driving and to pass emissions.. you could make better power with something from catcams or schrick.
