    I tested it and with the car not on the ICV has a constant buzz. I guess the problem isn't the ICV. What's next on the list?

      well, that means it's electrically working, but doesn't mean it's not sticking. But since you cleaned it out it's probably ok.

      next would be TPS switch. you have a bentley? it says how to test and adjust it.

        I went to my local BMW shop and talked to a mechanic who seemed to know about this problem. He said it sounds like it could possibly be a failing coolant temp sensor. Does this sound about right?

          Well I finally fixed the idle problem. It was a bad coolant temp sensor. I replaced it this afternoon drove it for a couple miles and the weird idle is gone. So for anybody that might be dealing with the same thing, check the coolant temp sensor. Cost me around $12. Thanks for everyones help!

            hmm my coolant temp hasnt been reading correctly for the whole time ive been driving it, maybe that could just be the cause. ill give it a try and see if everything is good, because driving it like this sucks since shifting isnt smooth when the idle is high
