So I think I am ready to get all the gaskets for the engine. Where would you guys go? I do not mind paying a few $$$ extra if I can get a full kit.

I got mine from a local foreign auto parts store. If you get the Reinz brand head set (the best brand IMO) it will have everything you need less the head bolts. Motor looks good, I just caught this thread or I would have suggested a light/bright color so its easier to spot oil leaks. I did my motor light(ish) gray. Are you going to refresh the head? I would at least change the valve guide seals and lap the valves. If you have the extra $50 get the head decked and chances are they will tank it too, then you wont have to worry about cleaning it yourself. When my head was off I did this but I also spent a couple hours smoothing the ports and port matching the intake/exhaust manifolds.

If you can get a compressor use a blowgun and blow the drain lines clean for the sunroof. This is how I do it in my VW's.

I was looking for pros and cons of each brand and I read that Goetze is a good brand to go with. There was a bit of negative stuff agains Reinz gaskets leaking within two years or so. Anyone here experienced the same? Where would I get Goetze brand headgasket?

Where in Illinois are you located? I may have spotted this car from a distance on 290.
