No spark! Need help!

well i finished putting my motor in today, went to start it and it turns over but theres no spark. plugs smelled of fuel so fuel is there. i touched a wire from the pos. post on the coil to the neg. post and nothing happened, regardless of key position. any help/experience?

also, theres a 3 prong plug on the harness that i couldnt find any place to plug in. its on the same leg of the harness that the reference mark sensor is on. thses 2 problems could very easily be related (i think).

any ideas?

For Motronic 1.3, that connector goes to the inductive pickup sensor on the plug wires.

yes, and it will run still without it (just with a less efficient/smooth idle). however, you can plug them into each other so it could be you have the VR sensor in the wrong plug. I think it should go into the one towards the passenger side.

the only thing is, if your VR sensor wasn't working you wouldn't get fuel or spark, so I don't think that is your problem.
