My last BLOCK STRIPPING QUESTION! HELP

    how do I remove 25/ 24/ 23

the gears that go the the oil pump

1.) do I need to remove it? if yes, how do I remove it? I dont see anything I can unbolt other than teh cover plate, does the whole thing just comes out with pressure from the bottom end?

If you are just doing a simple rebuild replacing seals, bearings and rings, then I wouldn't worry about taking that apart unless you think it is worn or leaking. I have left mine in. But this is my first rebuild on these engines so somebody with more experience might have a different answer. You certainly don't have to remove it to do a simple rebuild.

I'm getting my block cleaned. and maybe magnafluxed. I'm assuming they may dip it in something. I would like to remove everything, or at least know how to.

carefully pry the aluminum plug out of the block. the gears come right out.

leave the intermediate shaft inside the block when hot tanking. it will protect the bearings, which are not easily replaced.

which bearing? #23? which one is the intermediate shaft? Since I have never done this before I'm at a lost of what part you are saying. After I pry the aluminum plug out, will it self explanatory then? Do I just use a flat blade screw driver to pop the cap off?

Thanks alot for your help, I cant find any of this stuff in teh bentley.

The intermediate shaft is the shaft with a gear on the inside end that spans across cylinder#1 on the bottom driver side. To remove THAT there's a plate on the front of the block with two flat blade screws holding it in, anyway that's what theyre saying you dont need to take out.

I took mine out and fucked up the bearings, I have two brand new bearings to go back in, but its a machinist job to do that, as it takes two different hones to get it just right. They come undersized.

great... I took mine out too. I waht about the plug on the side of the block that is aluminum? that holds the other gear? anyone have a better detail description, i'm kind of at a lost since I'm not sure which one is which. IF I have to replace the bearin for the intermediate shaft, where do I get the bearing?
