do a stomp test to get a code so you can find out why the CEL is on. turn the ignition to the point were all the power is on, the press the gas pedal 5 times, and the CEL will blink a code like 1222 or something along those lines.

        Hey-

Can you snap a couple pictures of the passenger side of the engine? Just want to see what valve cover it has.

This place is like catholic school, 2/3 of the students smoke weed on a daily basis, but the faculty seems to convince the outside world that drugs are just in the other schools, the resident pot dealer thinks he's cool because he has the originality to call anyone he doesn't like a homosexual, and most of the little children follow him like sheep, then there's the few with brains, you hardly ever hear from them, perhaps don't even know they exist, but they get all the sh!t done.

You have to decode the stomp test.

I believe pelican parts has the walkthrough of it.

haha, sort of. Kamotors already summed up what the "pedel dance" is

look for the CEL to flash in sequences, that will tell you the code

Just cause the rev limit on the b27 was only 4500 doesnt mean it cant handle higher. just means it doesnt have power past it. that motors a tank just like the rest of bmws motors. beat the balls out of it.

It just means it shouldn't be revved any higher, hence the safe redline, it's there for a reason.

                  Your retarded! ^

The Eta motor has soft valve springs so don't rev it past 5k or valve float may occur and break the head/motor.

Also, to be sure its an i motor take of the valve cover and count your cam bearing, 7 for I motor and i think 4 for a Eta motor.

                    Hey guys,

I've been driving the car and it's running fantastic. No issues at all so far. But it just bugs me that I can't use the top half of the tachometer with this eta motor/ i wiring and electronics combo. And I'm always scared that whenever I feel like doing the "spirited-driving" I'll forget that I have be my own rev limiter....

Now someone here told me that I just can't go buy a eta ecu and plug it in there.... But would an eta chip just plug in the i ecu?? Would this limit the revs? will it even run?? Please help...

                    Justin

                      nah, that wouldn't work either

you could swap the eta gauge cluster (and code plug)

BUt changing guage cluster wouldn't stop my motor from over revving though.... Also what's a code plug??

yea, but it will remind you not to rev it (eta tach will have a 4800rpm redline)

the code plug is just a little white chip that plugs into the gauge cluster...
