    Running like oscar the grouch

    1988 325IX, 213k, bad 02.

I took everything from the intake mani to the air filter off, cleaned it all, and replaced the filter. The car was having issues idling and wouldnt accelerate past 4k, yet i could have the clutch in or have it in neutral and rev it up fine.

I put it all back on, and my car still runs like oscar the grouch, it sounds like a civic running on 3cyl. The only things I can think of, not being an experienced engine mech, is the fuel pump or timing. It just suddenly happened, also. Im going to clean the engine ground right now, but am doubtful.

BTW, do you like my sesame street reference? :D

Check the fuel pressure. That will tell you if its the fuel pump or filter.

Would a fuel filter or fuel pump cause a problem like this? It seems like more of a timing issue.

        Update:

Pulled the coil wire from each cylinder 1 at a time. The one nearest to the front didnt affect anything. The other 5 started to kill the engine. Yet it has spark...

Very high idle now, possibly a vacuum leak also.
