    M20B25 rod bearing clearance tolerance

Hello. I have searched everywhere but cannot find an answer. What is the rod bearing clearance for a M20B25? I am doing an oil pan gasket and plan to change mine out while doing so.

The crank pin is 45mm (1.77"), seeing you would like about .001" per journal diameter, then you are looking for ~.0017" (.043mm). Don;t be surprised if it's a little tight, most of the BMW 45mm pins I have disassembled over the years were spot on .0015" (.038mm).

Don't forget to change your rod bolts. They are low value TTY.

Also, if your main bearings look beat, you can swap them in the car (~.002" clearance). Remove the cap, and use a small pick to push the upper bearing around the crank until you can grab it. Just make sure you push from the non-tang side. Main cap bolts are not TTY and can be re-used. Don't forget to verify thrust clearance when doing #6 main cap.
