What do you plan to put the motor in?
    I hate carbs.

It's this, megasquirt, or rebuild the crappy old L-jet system. I thought this might be cool in an old-school way.

I'd go megasquirt or Motronic 1.3! The 1.3 is nice and will work well on the M90 (if thats the engine in question) since the compression on that is very close to B35 levels.

I guess it should be the engine in question since you sold it to me. Motronic 1.3 huh? Hadn't considered that.

You can't actually legally run a carb on your BMW unless it is a 2002. Besides, I hate carbs. 1.3 FTW!

Only if you know what you are doing. Otherwise 1.3 is easier and cheaper.

Legally smegally, no one checks here in Marion County Oregon. I like the 1.3 idea though.

Just did a read-up on First Fives. Why would I not just scrap the M90 and replace it with a B35 if I'm going through all that trouble? Actually, this is all way more work than the car is worth.

Because L blocks rule. Once again, what is it going in? Since you mentined first 5s I would assume an E12. If that is the case, then you can't fit the B34 (and especially not the B35) intake next to the booster. You would need to modify an L-jet intake (which I have) or make ITBs using L-jet injector manifolds (which would be awesome.)
It will be some work no matter what you do. If you plan to scrap the L block, though, let me know.

The M90 is already in an '84 325e. The car goes like a ruptured duck and handles like it's on rails. The fuel injection harness causes no end of trouble. There are plenty of other electrical problems as well. But I have not been working on the car. My attention has been distracted by this:

I'm going to shop Joe Funk's closeout sale today and see what he can do for me. If the task appears too intimidating or too expensive, I may just part the car. My brother wants the suspension and brakes so I may recoup some of the value added money there. I've already tried to sell it but emissions testing in the Portland Metro area limits my market.

Hell. That will be a lot of work. What do you want for the car whole?
