Removed the rear main seal from the holder. My BFH had to lend a hand.

I just want to replace the plastic rails. So can it be done without removing the chain?

Had no issues with that, locked it at the back/flywheel area and used air gun.

i tried mine with an impact, and also with a 3 foot cheater bar. i ended up bending the pry bar i was using to lock the crank in place.

With all the work you will be doing to replace those rails, pulling the chain is nothing. You have to remove the upper and lower timing case covers, which also means removing the crank nut on the front.

Couldn't find a clear answer to this. Can you remove the rails #15 & 19 without pulling the chain?

The e32 or e34 535/735 downpipes work even with front swaybar in place.

I sent you a pm re 179 dme.
