Well let's just say I wanted to do a s50 that would be around 3k for the swap on the low side. Then u have maybe 200whp then u have to turbo it.

A sr20 would be 1800 then have someone make a set of mounts and a driveshaft u would be cheaper then 3k and have a good turbo platform o build off of. And it would weigh Way less then a turbo m/s 50/52

like I said I love these cars for balance and handleing and not adding a ton of weight is just as big of a goal as the hp is

Street car, autox, track days, time attack. Etc...

I say useable power as in all around power, not a super peaky hp only good for drag racing, I want power all through the rpm range

        now on to your choices.

LSx - good choice for useable power and torque, but bend over for the low mileage engine or maint will end your bank account fast

rb26 - big big big $$, i cant stress this enough. a huge cool factor, but no where near "cheap" which seems to be your goal

sr20 - good engine, but over 300whp is a big cost bump, it takes big money to make your 350whp goal

1jz - crap, dont ever buy one

2jz - expensive, cool, but at least domestically available.

4g63 - interesting choice, great aftermarket, but transmissions become an issue. go with the sr20 before this

honestly bmw engines are probably your best bet. OEM stuff is always easier then fabbing everything.

its super hard to read that, but it was 350.97 hp and 302.90 tq
so, yes I have, that was a low boost, pump gas run, 23psi I went on to run 110 with a bigger tb and sheet metal intake along with 32psi to make 442whp and that was a 100% street car just for fun,
that is why I like the 4g63, but honestly the sr20 is looking like a better solution. I have however found plenty of rwd solutions for the 4g motor

Yes, I'm talking about that motor. I'd build a turbo Euro M52 a thousand times over before I degraded myself to putting an SR20 in an E30.

could be done a lot cheaper than my build, but still $$$

not everyone is as skilled as you either! lol. probably only a handful of people on this board that know how to take a concept, develop it in solidworks, and then create it to a functional part.

Yes I have seen that car before, it is more if a drag car then anything else tho,
however I do have, a t56, a 2.3 stroker kit (4g63 stroker) and a big t28 turbo at the house, so I'm a bellhousing, block, and driveshaft away from a great quick boosting setup that is probably able to make 400 hp

You're also looking at a fuckload of other little jobs that take a huge amount of time, if the experience of others who've fit 4G63s to LHD E30s is anything to go by

What is so special about lhd? That would be the intake side. The easiest side for the steering to be.

Well, the LHD aspect doesn't worry people so much - it's just that there really aren't many people who've done a 4G63 swap with a RHD E30 as just about everyone I've seen goes SR20 if they have to do a turbo Jap motor (or a 1JZ).

Getting the engine mount arms to fit, along with the new brake booster & master cylinder and positioning of the turbo are the biggest issues with a 4G from what I've read. That, and the weight of the Mitsu engine compared to other engines of its ilk. Hell, even the SR20 isn't really light. A friend of mine weighed his SR20 set-up with high-mount GT35, FMIC and the like and it ends up weighing more than an LSx.

Personally my favorite engine that bmw makes is the m20b20. It is their 1.8 liter 6-straight. Unfortunately it is Europe only, but if you can get your hands on one and import it you can easily make it an extremely good engine, and it is very light. Here is a link to a guy who prepared his m20b20.

lsx isn't heavy. garrett lost ~75lbs. doing his, plus he's at ~300hp with TONS of aftermarket available. And you can do it for relatively cheap compared to him because of his step by step book.
