    m30 in ix

I searched and didn't find any difinitive answers. I am looking to make more power and don't really wnat to turbo. would the m30 be any easier or cheaper than the usual s/m5x swap? thanks

    won't work

the IX m20 block is different from an i/is e30, oil pan has a hole through it for the front axle

Ha. It's been done. I've seen pics - they are on e30.de somewhere. It take an amazing amount of fabrication.

I figured the oil pan would be the problem

well fuck me sideways, that's crazy.

To the OP though, unless you're ready to custom build an entire front driveline setup/oil pan, just do an m20 stroker. A well-tuned, well-built 3.0 will put down just as much power as a 3.5 m30.

you can fab a pan or just get an e34 525ix pan,
there is a guy on e30.de that did a s50 swap and it does take some work
you need to start collecting front diffs now according to him...

i have an IX turbo and an m30 swapped e30. the turbo is fun, but id way rather have a rwd turbo m30 anyway, something about the torquiness just cant be matched by the m20. the ix turbo is hella fun though, unreal on rainy days and in snow. on dry pavement though id take my m30 rwd anyday.

You don't like the kick in the pants that a turbo car has? N/A is a waste of time unless your willing to build the crap out of it. oh and spend tons of cash to make 300 hp at the wheels. You could have a crazy fast car for way cheeper with boost.

I do but I hate cars with turbo lag and I have very little knowledge about turbo stuff.
