I've been watching this thread and it sucks there still is no "fix." I have a similar issue where i will run hot (up to 3/4 and it would keep going) on hot days when im in traffic. Once i'm cruising its below 1/2. I squeezed in a 14" spal pusher and a 7" fal pusher fan on the engine bay side and the 7" fan just slows down the overheating but doesn't stop it. I'm running the coldest thermostat as well. It's frustrating and i'm hesitant to take it out for HPDEs because i don't want it to overheat on the track or something.

I'm going to look into getting an custom rad made with more cooling capacity but with the room upfront i'm not sure how well thats going to work.

Has anyone ever ran 2 rads? lol

Not convinced a larger (or more) radiator will solve the issue. Erick measured the temp of the radiator when the car was doing it's over heating thing, and it was sitting at about 160*.

The only thing I would question then is the coolant line configuration. On my B34 the upper radiator hose T's off to the expansion tank.

On his setup the expansion tank is hooked up from the thermostat housing which would explain why coolant is being pushed into the tank and pressurizing it. Coolant flows from the back of the head back into the thermostat housing.

I think he should try using an upper radiator hose that has a T to go to the expansion tank and just route the back of the head to the thermostat housing.

That might be a good idea Otis...is that what you're running?

I have the e34 hose with the tee maybe i'll try that sometime.

Otis, I changed that setup basically the day after we spoke on the phone. Didn't help much (at least not with the overheating).

what he's saying is to delete the t fitting, and then find an e34 upper rad hose with a t fitting as the coolant over flow

I see. I will see if I can source one of those hoses to give it a shot.

Yea, I will make a run to the Finish Line today to see if I can get the hose. Also hoping that it solves my problems :)

                              Did you try the shroud?

Not yet. I'll look into the hose tonight and then make the shroud if that fails to make a difference
