rut ro.
I don't know - it's all bottom mounted. I hear even on e28's it's no fun to work on.Originally posted by Matt-Bhey does anyone know anyone who gets upset and makes electronics? -
Yeah, it's a tight fit on the 745i and at the minimum battery box will need to be cut off/modified (which is OK with me)...but I am just not sure if the manifold to passenger strut tower has enough room etc?
Have a chance to pick one of these up....think smog legal turbo 335i :)Mtech1 v8 build thread - https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=413205

^very tempting. I can't think of anyone that's done it on an e30. Did you check e30.de?
also - isn't that log style of manifold really close to the head and causes cracking?Originally posted by Matt-Bhey does anyone know anyone who gets upset and makes electronics?Comment

It is pretty ugly...but the only legal option here...so. If it doesn't fit I'll skip on it, but if someone has done this before I would like to know.Mtech1 v8 build thread - https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=413205

Jean,
the 745i turbo stuff can fit without smashing the strut tower or cutting the battery tray, mine is postion II i think. I cut the beam that goes up the strut tower to fit the wastegate because I thought I had to, but once the engine was in i realized I didnt have to cut it or smash it with a hammer. However I did raise the passenger side of the engine about a half inch to clear the turbo from my engine mount bracket.
Here are some pictures of some close calls but it all fits pretty easily. Hope this helps!

Thanks Joe! I've decided to not mess with it for now, car right now shows that it has enough power so i'll just work on getting the full potential out of it in it's current config :)Mtech1 v8 build thread - https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=413205

Chip, air filter and call it a day?
Joe -that is a nice set up. Could you install the turbo and mani with the motor in the car? Or does it have to come out?Originally posted by Matt-Bhey does anyone know anyone who gets upset and makes electronics?Comment

There're couple of "345i" E30's on e30.de, just check the "car archive".
Just a question of the smog-certificates; can you swap "any" engine package to E30 as long as it remains stock and it is approved to the state (California?) for example in the 80's?- E34 M5 (x 2) -
