    I think you can swap any motor in. But....The smog test has to pass as the newer of the two (car or motor).

      Engine has to be newer than the car. So, I guess there are benefits to starting with an early car lol

        Joe -that is a nice set up. Could you install the turbo and mani with the motor in the car? Or does it have to come out?
        The long studs for the exhaust manifold make it impossible to install with the engine in the car, unless you use bolts maybe...

        As far as smog, good luck. The CA BAR hates turbo's, and since the stock turbo stuff and electronics are so old (older than the e30), I doubt it can ever be legal in CA in an e30 :(. I've heard that some places are more lenient than others though, Victorville not being one of them.
