                  Using the M20 engine loom...

                  ECU
The standard E32 / E34 ECU should be used. The M30 loom will allow it to be fitted under the dash, but getting all of the connectors through the bulkhead is a PITA! The loom is also slightly short - you may have to rotate the ECU to allow it to bolt in place.
You say the e34 ecu 'should' be used. So a 173 cannot be used?

If you put an M30 chip in it, you can use it.

Not sure what that ECU is, sorry. If it's M1.3 it should work. I was using a 173 chip in a 179(M30B35 M1.3 ECU) in my M20 car for a bit.

EDIT: Looks like it is M1.0 Basic. Not M1.3.

Reason I'm not using that 059 is because the connector does not plug into the 1990 m20 harness I'm using. The 059 is what came with the B35 I pulled when I lived in England.

A 179 ECU should be easy to pick up.

I've got 3 or 4 of them in my parts stash :D (I'd send you one, but shipping from Australia would likely be too much to be worth it).
