    m30 Engine mount choices

    Hey guys,

I recently replaced a rubber m20 engine mount on my m30 that had taken a complete s**t after only a year. They really don't seem to hold up well to the extra weight and torque of the m30. Anyone have experience with something better? Bimmerworld makes rubber HD mounts for the engine and trans but they're quite expensive. I've also thought about going 80A urethane but wanted to get some opinions first especially on NVH.

    What are you guys running?

I want to know this too. I need to change mine soon. Is the height going to be the same on all of them? I'm running m30 mounts and I could use a little less height, my tps pwned my hood

Every mount I have in the car is akg, I intend to do the same for my m30 mounts.

Hmmm, seems weird that your mounts have died after such a short amount of time!

I bought new stock mounts from BMW 3 years ago when I did the swap, and they have held up fine so far.

Only thing I have noticed is that the right side mount has squashed a little, but that's it!

Yep mine are fine - I keep checking mine and I'm on the original set when I did my swap.

I bet it's the brand. When I pull them off (the right side is getting a little low, and I'm worried about the pan hitting the rack) I'll see if there are brand markings. All I know is I ordered them from the old euroasian site back in the day.

I wouldn't mind something a half and inch taller though.

I have run both. Rubber mounts don't last as long but the urethane are little taller might rub the hood I would say try it you might be ok I have a set if you want to try them.

                  What about OEM e12 mounts?

Interesting, are they thinner than the m20's?

I'm on IE engine mounts and AKG E30 M3 transmission mounts. So far so good, although I don't have too many miles on the swap yet.

Can someone tell me what the difference is like between rubber and urethane(?or what not) with the m30?

My stock e30 m20 mounts took a shit after a year as well, I picked up some e28 535i hex mounts but they would not fit as they are like 1/2 taller than the m20 mounts.....replaced with another new set of m20 mounts for now...

                            It's worth the upgrade.
M30 is the same as the M20.
Noise goes up but there's no rattling or anything like that.
                            Totally streetable.

The tranny mounts is what makes it
                            louder, but still completely tolerable.
Just makes the engine louder from inside.

From somebody who sold his three house racing eyeball arms a
week later because they were intolerable on the street.
