So all done with engine, then error

So I wrapped up yesterday and it fired up in about 10 sec. Idle's good, charging good, oil pressure good. Loud as hell with open pipes.

Needless to say I was impressed! First try. Then slapped in. The 3.46 LSD. The moved to the drive shaft.

This is where the error occurred. Have 325e front half, my 318i rear half. The dam thing is to long!!!!

I am using position 3. Now I have to have to driveshaft shortened and balanced. Nickel and dimed I tell you!!

Might just have the whole thing rebuilt and be done with it.

Here is a link to the startup video. Crappy I know. I was just to excited to care...

    Thanks
    Kris

Get a m20 driveshaft so you don't have to cut it. It slides back a ton.

I need the fully compressed total length of 55.5" to 55.75". Center bearing is 23.25" from the face of the flex disk. Anyone know if the M20 driveshaft has the large flange on the front, or does it use the same one as the M42. My M42 front half was way to long, like by 4" or so, it also has the smaller flange that won't work.

      Thanks
      Kris.

A standard 325i 5-speed shaft should work for you.

Clean swap! Looks beautiful under there.

I went ahead and took it in. The rear u-joint on mine was shot. They are going to rebuild it with serviceable u-joints and shorten it so it will be good as new. Should be done Friday. Add tranny fluid and diff fliud and should be good to go.

Got the aux fan up and running tonight. Some how I managed to blow both low and high speed fuses, odd.

Thanks for the input and compliment. I tried to make it look stock as possible.

Swap looks great, we need more pics when it's totally wrapped up! Looks like you have some decent distributor cap to radiator clearance, eh? Just to double check, was your 325e front half from a stick shift car?

I was told it was a 325e 5sp shaft. It defiantly was pre '87 as it had the center bearing that was to wide to for in my '91.

I will do a full spread once I get it all done. Driveshaft i was told would be ready tomorrow, hope so! Jonesing to drive this thing, been sitting for a year.

Thanks for the link. Went and drove it around, I am sure I woke up all the neighbors with the open exhaust. But just had to drive it!!! Seems like it has a miss or something, I will have the exhaust put on and then get the o2 sensor in and see if anything changes.
Almost there! Can see the finish!!!

Might also want to check on how much air is going into the manifold, had to adjust mine to get it to run properly, hope this helps good luck

So I started trouble shooting it on Sat. Found out that cylinder one was not working. Checked plug wire, they were new so I did not suspect anything. Tried an old plug wire, still nothing. Tried new plug, did nothing compression check was 175.

It was the freaking injector plug not seated. Pushed it in and made a world of diff. Now it's nice and smooth. Have to take care of the heat issue. Bigger better fan I think. Oh and lots of bleeding.

Here it is now. Getting exhaust put on. Pick it up tonight after wk.

Thanks for the help!! When you say you adjusted the air going in, how did you do that? By way
                            of the Air Meter?
