anybody know what length the selector rod and shifter arm should be cut and welded to ?

It varies, so its best to measure it out yourself. Figure it should be around 2 inches, but no car is the samesigpic -

I used a e30 B&M short shifter and I didn't have to modify anything. ALL the stock (e30) parts fit perfectly.
The shift lever isn't totally centered in the body hole but, you can't tell with the boot on.'08 328i Sedan -daily touring car

Are you using the older metal plate shifter housing or the newer cast aluminum one?
With the older metal plate shortened, you can use oem selector rod of iirc e23 or as long as it's length about 15mm.

Its going to depend on what transmission you are using, is it the metal shifter or the aluminum one and the motor mounts. I didn't have to modify mine. Yess!!Comment
