M30B35 Failed Smog! :(

Have you tried driving the car really hard before taking it to smog. Definitely helps troubled cars pass smog.

Yes, I think I've mentioned that in one of the earlier posts. I have also asked the smog tech if maybe I didnt' get it hot enough, and was told in this case it wouln't help to get it any hotter.

So it's been just over 2 years since the last smog, when the CAT was installed.

LOL ^ .... so I've contacted the place I bought my CAT from to see what the warranty is. I am going to tackle just the fuel things and pay for another SMOG test this weekend...if it doesn't pass still then it only gives me AMMO to get the cat replaced / sell it.

I've read on mye28.com that the quality of the cats recently changed for better (about 2 years ago) so maybe I got one of the bad ones before things got changed for better. Who knows.

Rented a $150 fuel pressure tester today from Autozone, fuel was about 10% low ...fixed that and went to smog the car again.

Passed everything as before again, and passed NOX at one of the two speeds this time by 1 point under MAX LOL.

Done, car is non-op.

I heard they can get it to "pass" with extra dollars at a few unadvertised certified shops? ;)
