I am wondreing if anyone has tried to fit Ireland Engineering E28/m30 headers or the Schmiedmann ones? They probably would require some modification but how much? I emailed Ron Perry and he said the M30 to E30 header project is on hold for now but may continue later in the summer when he is less busy. The existing solutions (specifically made for this swap) from Europe are over a grand and for what they cost I could probably get a custom set that is an even better design but who has that kind of money? It would be nice to hear and see what people have done with specific motor mounts, engine placement, CAB mounts, and exact mods to make the headers fit. Lets get this info out so we can make a good swap a lot better.

This all assumes that your motor actually would benefit from headers which means that cam/headwork have been done. On a stock m30 headers are a waste of money in my opnion.

What would people be willing to pay for a set of e30 fitment equal length headers? $1000? $1200?

What we would pay would depend on how good they are. I think that the E28 Stahl's were a good design (about $1100) with nice attention to detail but the sizing was a bit on the small side for a B35. The Bavauto E28 M30 headers (with a good reputation) were about $650 and they included matching down pipes to bolt onto the stock E28 exhaust. I think they were also ceramic coated for that price so I guess that is a starting point.

I think 1k would be a fair price for quality headers that are proven to offer a real HP gain and clear the chassis well.

800 - 1200 for mild steel, coated would be nice but not a deal breaker. I'm going with a built naturally aspirated engine so I really would like to see something come of this, very disappointed that VMG dropped it. It's such a niche product...

Due to the relatvely cheap price I am really considering trying to get the schmiedmann ones to work but need to do a bit more guesstimation before ordering. I have some Stahl's for an E12 that I got for a good price but they have small 1 3/8" primary pipes and the collector is only 1 5/8". Still I would have tried them but one of the primary pipes touches my motor mount and they also hit at the CAB so they require a little too much work and I may sell them.

There's not enough demand for any company to produce and sell them for cheap.

These headers,, are afaik ALPINA replica made ,,, M30/E30 fit

and are in a cost of 1000 usd,, without shipping and tax in the states from koed.dk

here we also have .. E34 M30 headers,, and the cost is minimal vs the others,, but i do not know how they fit

                      the cost is 250 usd,,,,

They add 250-350hp based on different readings

Yeah, you'll have 450hp with headers and an otherwise stock engine.
