    13b Power BMW

I think we're gonna give it a go.

This summer after my wedding my best friend and I are going to completely strip his 1990 RX7 and attempt to find an E30 shell to transplant a supercharged 13b into. The engine only weighs in around 250-290lbs so weight distribution should be interesting.

I'll post some pics and more details as soon as we research it a little more.

Find an old Datsun 510 for this, they are lighter.

Negative SchnellerVert. I live in Knoxville, TN. Aquiring a decent Datsun 510 would be nearly impossible in this area and not worth the time and effort to ship fom abroad.

We'll be working on a budget so it's going to be a very slow process.

However I did find this link searching for some info:

13B = a lot of maintenance and repairs. Good luck with it. I say find something little to put it in, like an MG as shown in GRM.

We will be rebuilding the 13b with some titanium apex seals and get everything in tip top shape before the swap so we should be ok when it comes to maintenance.

We've been told the best place to find a good used one is from a company that maintains airplane engines. Since the 13b is a popular airplane engine we've been told you can pick up a 13b with a couple thousand hours on it for less than $1000. Since airplanes are required to be in tip top shape the 13b's that they sell tend to be in very well maintained condition.

Wow that guy should be shot for putting those rims on a BMW. They took a good posche rim, chromed it, then stretched it all ghetto hubcap style. Nasty. But that is a interesting build. I drove a rx7 once, I just couldn't get over the lack of torque, even compared to my M44. But I'm sure a supercharger can fix that eh'

I'm from NZ and every man and is dog is putting a rota in something, beemas, vans, dattos, station wagons you name it its been done. I think theres a few rota E30's being done over here.

Good luck with it, will absolutly fly when you finish it.

N/A rotaries are extremely reliable. The forced induction ones are the ones that hate life.

A street ported 13b should be interesting once you hit the powerband.

From what I understand N/A rotaries can last as much as 300,000 miles though we do plan on supercharging our 13b but not before rebuilding it with some better internals. Looking at 10-15psi.
