Its ok but it wont actually help if you don't shield the intake from engine heat.89 325i: 86 535i motor+trans, JE forged pistons, MLS head gasket, ARP head studs, Comp turbo, GoodNTight b34 turbo manifold, e30.de motor mounts, AKG 75D engine/trans mounts, custom 3" exhaust, intercooler, MS2PNP, Megan Racing Coilovers. -
awesome i just wasn't sure if it would affect the computer and its readings and i also need something smaller to replace the original filter piece, cause its so big. and thanks for the tip.Comment

You can replace the stock type filter (with something like a K&N) but at the expense of filtration. You won't gain performance but you may gain some extra sound and a bit of extra space though. The stock B35 air box is very good but maybe a larger snorkel on the end could be a benefit with a built motor.Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. -Mark TwainComment

thanks for al the advice, but how do manage to fit the stock filter in the engine bay, i can't seem to figure it outComment

I have the miller MAF setup and it fits perfect. You have to remove the windshield washer bottle, or just replace with an iX unit

Also Miller offers various lengths of MAF housings, so you can pick one that is longer/shorter to fine-tune the fitment.Comment

To be honest, I'm not rightly sure.
The car in the picture was built by Ed of Ed's BMW service. He's a pretty friendly guy, I'd assume he'd be more than happy to talk to anybody who called and asked. (626) 653-0191
EDIT: shoot, looks like Corvallis nailed it before I finished typing. Ed's setup is obviously using the Miller MAF as well.Last edited by SkiFree; 11-28-2012, 10:59 AM.Comment

Like Ski free I used a short adapter coupling between the Miller MAF and the rubber elbow to the air box. I am still looking at a good way to hold the air box more securely although it really doesn't move much. Just a little finishing detail.Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. -Mark TwainComment
