Plug wire upgrades?

my stock wires are in bad shape because i have a busted up heatsheild between them and the headers. im sure the 8mm ones i can buy for alittle more wolnt give me a performance gain. but what are some of the other pros to them?

OEM plug wires are fine. They'll probably last longer too. Also, it would be wiser to take care of all maintenance like this before you start buying go-fast goodies. Make sure you're car is well sorted before you start playing with aftermarket parts.

I know 8mm plug wires won't enhance performance any, but if they cost the same what's the big deal? I really doubt OEM is going to last much if any longer than my bavauto wires. They also match my strut bar.. ;)

Those look Great, they make a statment unlike the stock holder with the 8mm...

ok but to the questions:
Do they connect in the stock way with the valve cover bolts?
and
are they custom or did you buy them?

thanks alot and they look great for you... my engine bay has red valve cover and intake manifold... so i would want black wires. i guess that will be desided a possiblity once you respond.

It's not really a big deal. As long as it's clear to everyone that you won't gain any additional power from them. All I know is that my stock plug wires lasted a hell of a long time, and in my dad's experience, high performance plug wires generally haven't lasted as long for him. That said, I'm sure the bavauto and IE plug wires are quality. And a set of blue plug wires is somewhat tempting :p

yeah, mine lasted a long time too - about 160,000 miles - but the shielding was falling apart and the core was exposed on the coil wire, so they needed replaced. I also got a good deal on the bavauto wires, so I jumped on it. I honestly did it 100% for looks, because I knew there would be no performance advantage.

Mine rolled over 180k yesterday. The plug wires *look* fine but the spark plug in the #5 cylinder tends to foul up if I drive around at low RPM for a while. A Ferrari tune-up fixes that :D But I'll be getting new plug wires within the next few weeks.

Mine have 184k on them and I picked up good condition used OEM set cheap for when those fail. If I want color, maybe I'll paint the loom thing they go in.

shouldn't use used wires: new ones work best.
