M30 in E30 - best way to drop the oil pan

My oil pump sprocket seems to have come off from vibration; what's the best way to do this job? I don't have an engine hoist currently; I can get one if it'
    s necessary.

Its more work but you could drop the subframe down away from the motor and do it that way.

Ah, yea, good point. I really should reinforce my subframe though, I need the reinforcements.

isn't the motor sitting ON the suframe? what would be holding the motor up?

You'd have to jack the motor off of the subframe after loosening the mounts and the set the motor down on a jack stand under the crank pulley.

That's just a suggestion. But something of that nature would do it.

Rent/buy the kit that lets you "hang" the engine from the top. Remove subframe.

or the quick way is to go off track at 120mph and get your e30/m30 airborne and land on something hard - problem solved - timing chain is easy to get to :)
