The M90 is not a dirty B34. The dirty (read: european market) B34 had geometry similar to a US market B34, but high-compression pistons.

I have a b35 swap with a 265 and have been driving it every day for the last 8 months. The b35 is a nice improvement over the eta motor that was in there, but it's left me wanting more. 220 would be more feasible at the crank, it would take a lot of work to pu that to the wheels.

        I stand corrected, thanks kronus.

Billet rods, ported head, cam, possibly a larger valve. Long tube header (BAS),no air flow meter, Autronic stand alone engine managment, MSD ignition. The exhaust was not the finest piece of engineering , it used a 2 into 1 cat as a collector so its prob giving away some power there. Schnitzer advertised the engine kit at 275 bhp which is right in line with what i was seeing at the wheels. Very fun car to drive, i'm going jail kind of fun.
Found yer thread and wanted to post the build specs.

Yeah the car Lorin had was a beast, definitely a little quicker than mine. I'm doing an autocross this weekend and I should have some in car video. I'll post it in this thread to give you an idea of the powerband I was talking about. It's not like it falls on its face at high RPM's, I just prefer the s38. I do still think it's worthwhile to put money into the m30 for a street car.

I've decided the best bet is just swap in an m90 short block. After doing tons of research that seems to have the best results without breaking the bank. From what I've read I'll need the b35 head gasket, correct?

I'm selling my entire swap if you'd be interested in that.

what about an s38 head on an m90 block? Essentially it would be like building a cheaper m88/s38 or converting a m90 to a dual cam setup... or am I completely off?

I would think you would have to see if the water jackets line up and if the bolt pattern is the same. Plus s38 ecu.

                              M90 HG (11121730951)

                              I put an M90 head on a B34 using a B34 HG set.

                              Also, this:

Early M30's, which I include the M90 in, until 81 or so, used a head with slots for coolant passages, instead of holes like the later ones did. If you have a head with slots, you need an early 3.5 head gasket, or else you will pour coolant into the crankcase. I don't mean a minor leak, I mean you won't be able to even fill the coolant because it will all be in the pan.
My M90 head is stamped 83.

OK that's not confusing as the m90 and m88 share the sane block. That last quote pretty much says use the right head gasket for the head you're using, and all three if them do have a lot of similarities. I also remember my b35 block having slots for coolant passages.
