M30 driveshaft help

I used a stock e30 driveshaft in combination with a 260 transmission from a 5 series. The 260 in the 3 series and 5 series are the same length (in general… I believe the later model 260/6 with cooling fins is a bit longer), gearing, everything else is the same just different bell housings to fit the m20 or the m30 respectively. The diameter of the output shafts are also different and will need to be swapped if staying with a stock driveline. As a side note this configuration places the head rather close to the fire wall. I used an m30 b35 so I do not have coolant output at the rear of the head. If you are using an m30 b34 clearance may be an issue.
Hope this helps

m30 driveshaft
I also tried Jared's easy driveshaft fix. It didnt work. I ended up having to take the drive shaft (m30 front end m20 rear end) to my local driveline specialist and had it cut down. The total was around 250.00 but it fit like a charm and is now fully balanced. Good luck with the swap! I'm just about done with mine and hope to fire it up soon!

I think i'm going to use the E30 front. It's from a 325e, so it has the bigger guibo (135mm i believe),,, I think that will work just fine...Recent Rebranding!!
