    Replicate m30b35 in Alpina/Hartge

If you look at the figures that Alpina/Hartge makes from that engine, it's pretty amazing at 261hp and 346nm Torque. I've contacted both companies and only way I can get replacement parts or more info is if I actually own one. But I do not so they cannot give any more info on it. I know I can turbo it instead but I read posts of people attempting to make na power and it's almost close but not enough. I just haven't seen anyone on the forum make a post about it so here I am doing it.

high compression pistons, aggressive cam, hours and hours of flow bench work will put you there.

Don't leave out Schnitzer and their 3.7L @ 275 hp.

And now we have better coating technology and engine control systems. Attention to detail will get you there.

I can't imagine it is worth it. Cost benefit is brutal. Cool factor of course. But lots of cash spent to be cool.

Cost/benefit = chip and gear change

I spent under $1750 shipped on new custom pistons, and ported head/cam combo (which was an awesome deal). Another $ 450 on block magnaflux, boring, decking, cleaning and assembling my new pistons to the rods. Bearings, gaskets, timing chain, and miscellaneous engine hardware was probably another $400. My oil pump is not new but has good pressure.

Then there is the cost of a new clutch, hoses, exhaust... It all adds up but in my case I have a motor that should last for 200K plus with proper maintenance.

I just tried to order the Alpina headers last week. It's a two piece set. One piece is NLA and they wanted a VIN before they would sell the other. I'm a sad panda :(

Try ebay Germany. Some time they come up for sale between 300-550 euros.

FWIW the closer you want it to replicate an original Hartge, Schnitzer, or Alpina the more it will cost. Period correct is cool but expensive.

One would think they could be replicated with todays technology and aftermarket. Parts are still expensive though
