Hi guys, new to the group here. Don't beat me up too bad. My question is are there any other possible engine swap options not listed here? A 2.3 sohc Ford Ranger 4 banger as an example. What is ultimately the smoothest up swap for a 325es M20B27?

Mazda 13b! small package, would put the engine right behind the axles (mid engine) and would make the same power as a turbo m20 safely.
They get a bad rap, but as long as your not wringing it out to 9k everyday or trying to make over 450+ hp out of its 1.3 liters they'll last plenty long.1990 325i Cashmere Beige

If you want an interesting read of the 2.3L turbo Commodore that never was, check this out -
Would have gone ahead had Detroit not stepped in (as always).
