    Alpina B3.5 Build

    Hey guys,
Currently have an m30b35 in my e30. Looking to gain more power and have an engine project to work on. Wanting to keep the build NA as im not much of a fan of turbos, yes i am well aware this is not cost effective for power gains but i love NA builds and sounds!

Just wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to replicate the alpina b3.5 e30 build? If so anyone know what parts were used within the engine? As i believe it was built off just an m30 rather than an s38
    Many thanks in advance!

Search for specs on the Alpina B10 engine (which was the engines spec in the B6 3.5)

Basically it's an M30B35 with head work, bigger cam, headers + sport exhaust, inlet manifold etc, with tuning to suit. They did quite a bit to get 260hp.

There are some very knowledgable Alpina experts on the forum. Search around and seek out their wisdom.

Yeh ive googled it and hunted a lot for the b10 specs, but havnt found exactly what parts were used etc. Ive had more luck with the hartge h35 specs than i have the b10. Thank you for that bit of information though guys! Appreciate it

          Alpina B6 3.5 254hp

          Alpina B6 3.5S 262hp

          The Alpina B6 3.5 m30 b34

          Alpina m30 motor consisted

          Alpina cam
          Alpina ported & polished head
Alpina 2mm bigger valve intake and exhaust
          Alpina used higher compression pistons
          Alpina chip or Alpina ecu
          Alpina m30 headers e30

I sure I'm forgetting some things.

Good thread!!! Was thinking of making a similar one myself. I'm in the same boat trying to nail down specifics.

The Alpina B6 3.5 is based on the 325i chassis, but uses the M30 "big six" 3430 cm3 engine, upgraded to 261 bhp (192 Kw) and a whopping 346 Nm of torque. 0–100 km/h is achieved in 6.4 seconds. The engine uses custom MAHLE pistons and rods. The cylinder head was ported and polished, and a hotter cam was used. Top speed is 250 km/h. Suspension and brakes were upgraded. Bigger ventilated disks and progressive springs were installed at the front. Only 210 cars were made from 1986 to 1990.

And this is why i come to r3v. Bunch of legends thank you. Will try find out more specifics etc. Anyone know the angle of the cam? Presuming its a fairly aggressive cam. Mine is already slightly upgraded as i have a uk spec m30 but i imagine the alpina is much more lumpy

I'd like to know about the cam amongst the tuners. I read routinely the B35 has an already aggressive cam.

the recipe is the same for any NA engine,

                    higher compression
                    ported head
                    bigger camshaft
                    nice header and exhaust
                    retune

the idea is to balance the part selection so they all work together

If you're after a shortcut to an Alpina B10 spec head - here's one on German eBay! Pretty pricey though, but comes with cam.
