Hesitation till 3000rpm

Hello all.
I recently purchased a 1987 325is and it has some issues.
It supposedly has a 272degree cam in it.
The engine feeels real boggy til around 3000rpm.
It feels like it is missing or something yet I have replaced the
Idle control switch
02 sensor
Cap and rotor
plug wires
spark plugs.
It has great power above 3000rpm yet it feels like it is skipping below.
Does anyone have any ideas as I am getting a little frustrated with my first bmw.
I think the cam would impact the drivability somwhat but no where near this degree.

you'd be better off posting this in general tech.
i have no experience with hot cams but are u sure it couldnt be that?
so it does this all the time hot or cold?

the cam shouldn't make it like that in the lower RPMs.. I have a 284/272 and my throttle response is very snappy at any RPM.

have you checked for vacuum leaks? I replaced my intake boot and all vacuum lines, seemed to make a pretty big difference.

i have an "i" cam in an "e" head with a rebuilt 2.7l bottom end haed is p&p and i have the same effect, its not acually bogging, theres just no power to be had below 3k, i would assume that a 272 in an "i" head would react the same

a 272 is a very mild cam.. I barely even consider it an upgrade.
