A few days ago I PM'd Jordan asking if he knew anything about this, but he hasn't responded yet.

I also posted to the BMWCCA northstar chapter message board asking if anyone local had a Peake tool. That post was 3 days ago, and there have been no new posts on that board.

I haven't gotten around to metering the AFM, but I will one of these days. Also, I'm intrigued by the Crank Position Sensor possibility. I'm going to look into that aswell.

Scroll down to post number 71. This was Jordan's problem. All he did was bend the "arms" a bit so the contacted new surface. Solved his problem.

Those of you runnig models with crank sensor on front of engine, check that the plastic cover for crank sersor wire and oilpressure sender wire in front of timing cover is intact.

I've stumbled with that sort of problems too.

Twice I've discover that cover is missing and letting the wire to rub with waterpump pulley.

When you accelerate, fan blow will move the sensor wire and put it contact with the pulley and make it short.

When revs drop the wire will come off the pulley and everything will work again.

I haven't gotten around to it yet, but I haven't had the problem since I reset my ECU...

how do you do that? And i had a little bit of luck just tinkering with the TPS...so i definately think that could be where the problem lies.

I disconnected the battery cables waited a second then touched the two cables together for about 30 seconds, then reconnected them. Just be sure to not connect the battery terminals by accident...

The DME has to re-learn how to run the engine, so just let it idle for a few minutes afterwards, and then take it for a drive.

This fixed my high-idle problem for a few minutes too. Then the CEL came back on and it idled at 2000. I can't wait for that Peake tool to get here.

yea so that definately did not work....one of the two screws that holds the TPS on was too stripped to even think about getting off....and after reseting the ECU and putting everything back together, i now have an idle problem and a CEL comes on when the car is left to idle or is at a constant throttle position....so now what??? im thinking seriously about lighting the bitch on fire and rolling it over a cliff, taking the insurance money and buying a 90s toyota corolla...jesus....
