Any M30, if it sits far enough back, is gonna touch. Thats my understanding.

OK i have a few questions.

Is it ok to run the M30 without the little pulse wire on the #6 spark plug wire? because i dont think the M20 harness has one.

And is the fuse box plug "plug and play" with the harness or do i need to move wires around? I have an 1/1986 325e fusebox, 1989 325i harness with an 1989 m30.

From what I have gathered- with some m30 swaps its plug and play withe the fuse box, but not all. With my swap (90 735i motor, 87 325iS car) they dont meet up at all, and therefore I need to manually splice the wiring to get it all to work okay

How about E28/E24 motors? direct swap to 87is?

we shall find out I suppose...

The plugs physically plug into each other fine....the pins don't match up though. Meaning, car no workie. I could either chane the pin placement, or just splice the maybe 7 or so wires needed without any difficultly. Even within some years, some motors will have the correct pin placement, and some won't. All depends on options, and year to year changes. Either way, just get a a hold of wiring diagrams for both the donor car and your car, and just match them up.

Thats where I got mine from. Just make sure you actually download them and save the ones that you need, they have them for all years, just in case the site goes offline or anything. Haynes manual at least they are pretty vague. Just my experiance, but they are better than nothing.

Those look pretty good. But i still dont see the pinouts for the C101 connector.

I'm so confused... I dont know whether to use the 89 325i harness or the 89 535i harness. I've been getting mixed answers about c104 connection at the very beginning of the harness that has the tach/fuel/mpg wires, some say if you dont get those right the car wont start?

I am just cutting the connectors off and splicing everything, not connecting the connectors

How do you know what to splice, are the colors the same? Which harness did you use. Does the 325i have every single connectors that the e32/e34 harness has? I know it doesn't have the pulse connector that goes on the #6 spark plug wire.

Hey Joe, when do you think that the motor mount arms will be available for sale? Which version of the m30 will they work on? (motor from an e24,e28,e32.e34). I will base which motor I get based on the mounts you make. My engine choise is held in your hands lol:)
