    My new 325i

    Hi all,

I just bought myself an 89 325i, They guy I'm buying it off recently had the car Dyno'ed and it put down 103kW at the wheels, I know stock is quoted as 125 at the crank, I was wondering if anyone has a ballpark figure for stock at the wheels... 103 seems a fair bit higher than I would've expected given drivetrain losses + 17 years of use

    cheers in advance

?? are kW the same as hp?? if so, i think yer talkin about a 318i, and not a 325i...325i should be putting down around 140whp...

      No, 1 hp = 0.735 kW

103kW = 140 hp so I guess I'm not as special as I first thought

Why would you think kW are the same as hp, or that he has a 318i when his user name is 325i?!

103 kW sounds very healthy for an '89. How many km on it?

i know the car you just bought from peter. 103 rwkw is pretty normal i have seen 98-105rwkw for a m20b25 on a dyno dynamics in OZ.

The figures are not comparable with US results since it was done on a dyno dynamics dyno and they typically use dynojet dynos which use a different methodology.

It has 230,000 km (143k miles) drives extremely well and the previous owner just redid the suspension so I'm pretty happy with what I've picked up
