what is the comp on yours?
also is the head the same as the e34?
I will have to pull my book and do some reading not sure what the diff is between euro-us. Euro's had some good parts.

The 335i's are fun to drive, How do you like the gearing over-all
My Email is bmw335isturbo@yahoo.com if you have any Qustions down the road

It should be 9.3:1. The head was milled .007", but I doubt that would raise it signifigantly. Stock they put out 218hp and just over 230ft/lbs according to the 6 Series Enthusiasts Companion. When I convert back to motronic I am planning on a 282 cam to replace the stock 264 (euro spec), and maybe some headers if I can find some that fit.

I have not driven it yet because the buy I am getting my driveshaft from has apparently fallen off the face of the earth!! So.... It will be a little while yet, but I am about to get started on the exhaust started, so it is making progress!!

Hell no! In fact, because I am doing the exhaust on the cheap, by myself, in my garage... I'm just going with a single 3" pipe, maybe a resonator, glasspack, or something, and a decent looking muffler. It will flow more cc's per minute than the stock 6 series exhaust (which was clearly designed for torque), so it should make a little more power. ...Though that's not what I am shooting for. If I lose some torque, big deal, it's a 700lb lighter chassis than the 6 it came out of, and that car hauled ass!!

that's cool but 3" might be a little big. Factor in all the bends if their manderil bent bends that could be bad mabe not noticeable but bad over time. little back pressure will infact help.

If it was me and this is just my N/A I would not go any bigger than 2 1/5 inch but that is with a good mufler.
I went with 2 1/4 and it ran fine

Hmmm, well my original plan was 2.5" ID pipe, single all the way back for cost effectiveness until I find a set of headers... I bet that would work actually.

The stock 6 series pipes are as follows: Two manifolds with ~45mm ID pipes into one ~60mm collector (2.35in), to two 45mm pipes all the way back (1.77in). So if we figure the area in cc², the stock system has a static area 3179.25mm². A 2.5" ID single system is 3165.32mm²... Not a very big difference at all.

I suppose that is the way to go! Especially since the motor is stock right now...

                  your plan sounds good
just rember little back pressure is good.

When you say you went with 2 1/4, is that a single or twin pipe setup? I was a little unclear on that.

single i wen't for less restriction that is why I needed a good muffler for little back pressure.
Make sure if you go that rout down pipes are same leingth if not over time do the math frount 3 cyclenders, back 3 cyclenders you wan't to make them as equall as you can.

Ahhh, so you have one 2 1/4 inch pipe for one set of 3 cylinders, and another 2 1/4 pipe for the other 3 cylinders?

Not quite 2 manifolds 2 -2" down pipes then the "Y" were the O2 bung is and the single 2 1/4 exhost pipe into a muffler

Gotcha, sounds a little restrictive for the M30! But if it works, good!

It sounds restrictive but back pressure will give you power just don't go over kill.I am just telling you what I did and it worked well but little loud.
