The amount of r3v members with an m30 just increased by one...

Quick pic along with some details:

I found a cherry 1992 e34 m30 that had about 55k miles on it, so I said what the h*ll. I took out my souped to shit 2.7 stroker and stuffed the m30 in there instead, along with an e34 trans and a 3.25LSD.

Custom fab brackets ($50), Custom fab rad ($150), everything works as it should. The injectors desperately need cleaning, and I may need to change the sparkplugs (slight hesitation on high gear/low rpm and load), but the car pulls like stink now. I'm very satisfied.

Due to time constraints and the fact that this is my DD, I didn't have time to properly clean the engine, but I will very soon.

After that, I want to 'Miller MAF' it and hook it up to my SMT-7 for some fine tuning. For a start.

Pic of the new guest in my 'bay :D :

these cars are fun, the self built 335is is a veary fun and respectable car please tell me that you have taken the time to clean up the engine bay a little after the pic was taken.

One good idea is if you put the battery in the trunk you will save on weight in the front but nice install.

Thx for the feedback bmw335isturbo, there are two good reasons my battery is not in the back:

      1. Touring means the back's a little heavier than the sedan.
      2. A sound system means the back's heavier still :D

Looks good. Did you use the stock booster? How does this motor compair to your stroker?

I left the stock booster yes; there's about an inch or so clearance from the manifold.

This motor has a LOT more torque than my stroker down low, but strangely enough, I can't put my finger on whether the car is actually FASTER now or not. The stroker was peaky but much faster-revving than the m30 lump.

Of course it could be that the m30 is not in perfect tune yet. I'll get back to you after I check plugs/injectors/tune etc. This m30 SHOULD be pushing about 218hp at the crank (euro). I don't think it's quite there yet.

didn't your stroker have a 304 shrick cam? I'm not surprised that the M30 has more low end torque. :D

Not as clean as yours though ;)

Oh and Jesse, I sold the stroker (which had overheated and gotten some internal damage) for $500. The person buying it pretty much did so for the cam, the afpr, the guages, the headers, 2.7 crank, and the gearbox. The rest was unusable.

Don't feel too bad though, I'm in Lebanon, so shipping would've killed you :)

OG Lebanon, aka Lebanon the country.

Hope that clears it up ;)

And the whole thing cost me $2500, or $2000 if you consider the parting of my stroker for $500.

That consisted of the 92 M30B35+electronics with its gearbox, a 3.25LSD, custom engine mounts, custom rad, driveshaft modification, umm, and that's about it I guess :D

Big heavy dual mass flywheel doesn't promote a rev-happy nature.

Nice swap though, I'm doing a '89 M30 into a shell which I'm tracking down right now. Hopefully I find something soon :).

I could take my M30 out of it and sell you my shell... I kinda regret taking it out of my 6 series...
